integrated. For this reason the University gives advises and organizes meetings with
farmers and experts of this kind of problems.

The University will
seek to minimize consumption of materials and promote appropriate use of recycled materials.
The University of Tuscia as other Universities uses a lot of paper. In order to minimize the impact
on the environment, the University, for many years has been involved in paper recycling.
The University also promotes organic wastes recycling by composting them.
The University will
avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and technologies and undertake the appropiate procedures to prevent risks
where such materials are in essential use.
Solvent wastes are collected by technicians and stored in large drums until authorized carriers remove
them. Where hazardous materials and wastes are concerned, the University of Tuscia has adopted a disposal
system and is continually monitoring and improving these.
The University will
try to minimize its impact on the environment
An University in expansion as the University of Tuscia is, needs new structures for its students. In order to
minimize the impact of new buildings on the territory, the University of Tuscia has chosen to restore the
monumental complex of S. Maria in Gradi. In this way the University has obtained about 50,000 m
3 for its academic activities, and moreover has restored, after more than one
century, a wonderful artistical and historical complex to the city.
The University will
reduce the detrimental impact of vehicles by encouraging reduction in car use, promoting the use of less
environmental damaging means of transport.
The University of Tuscia has been working with the municipality of Viterbo to increase the bus services
from the city to the University, but also to strengthen the train and bus connections for the
students and staff coming from other towns and villages.

The University will
encourage staff and students to play a full and active part in achieving a positive environmental impact
