Viterbo is an amazing medieval town, still surrounded by its beautiful and intact medieval walls. Located between the southern borders of the Tuscan Maremma and Rome, Viterbo is a city of about 67,000 residents at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level. Viterbo is known as the “City of the Popes” and its biggest attraction is, not surprisingly, the Papal Palace. It has been the Papal Seat between 1257 and 1281. Viterbo is famous also for the numerous fountains decorating its medieval squares. The beauty of the city depends also on its gardens as the Italian gardens of Villa Lante, in Bagnaia, with the spectacular waterfalls and fountains, among which the Fontana dei Moroni is the most beautiful one. Viterbo is well known also for the thermal baths where you can relax in hyper-thermal and hypo-thermal water
