In 2019, scientific research at UNITUS continued on enhancing the services offered by the Research Office in terms of enhancing research results as registration, renewal and promotion of trademarks and patents. In particular, in 2019 there were 9 patents were registered in UNITUS portfolio:

• Variety of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) called Raffaello

• Variety of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) called Donatello

• Chitinolytic enzymes production by Penicillium janthinellus

• Solenero

• Italian red passion

• Sun Black ™

• Purovino

• Wearable device for recognizing suspension infringements and unlocking infringements during sport driving;

• Hot air flow dehydrator and process for dehydrating a product

In particular, in 2019 the following activities were carried out to enhance existing patents:

- on 18.11.2019 the certificate of recognition of plant variety n. 2015/0763 Malus domestica borkh called "Tuscia Red" by prof. Rosario Muleo, from the Central Institute for Supervising testing in Agriculture (UKZUZ) National Plant Variety Office, based in Brno Hroznovà (Czech Republic);

- following the release on 06.06.2017 by the CPVO of the certificate of recognition for the Solenero plant variety (application no. 0315/2015), the annual fee was maintained for the third year;

- on 14.10.2019 Sib S.p.a. announced that the patent for invention n. 102017000062668 filed on 08.06.2017 "Wearable device for the recognition of the suspension infringement and the unblocking infringement during sports running", by Dr. Stefano Rossi in co-ownership: 75% SAPIENZA, 25% UniTuscia;

- on March 13, 2019, the patent from No. 102016000107635 was granted with the title "Hot air flow dehydrator and process for dehydrating a product" by the inventors Massantini Riccardo, Moscetti Roberto and Raponi Flavio.
