ENROLMENT for EXTRA-UE STUDENTS

Procedures for enrolment at the University of Tuscia for International Students Requiring VISAs - Academic Year 2021-2022

The following procedures apply exclusively to international students that require an entry VISA for Italy for long-term stays.

The procedures do not apply:

1. to citizens from European Union (EU) Member States, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and the Swiss Confederation; from the Republic of San Marino, even if holding a foreign qualification;
2. to students who hold scholarships released by European Union education, training and research programmes, to which are applied, by analogy, the instructions in place for the “ErasmusMundus” programme that also cover “Erasmus+”.

The application for access for international students applying for visas and residing abroad, must take place through a prior university pre-enrollment procedure:

1. Fill in our contact form to be constantly up to date on our initiatives and receive more detailed info about admission requirements for the courses of your interest;
2. check our language requirements, if you don’t have an italian language certificate you can join one of our free online courses to get prepared to the italian language exams scheduled on July 5^th and September 9^th 2021;
3. collect the required documents (previous study certificates);
4. pre-enroll on the universitaly web portal;
5. Book an admission interview with the responsible professor of the master degree program, contacts are available on the page of the course http://unitusorienta.unitus.it/en/cosa-si-studia/;
6. as soon as we will confirm your admission on the universitaly web portal you can book your appointment with the italian embassy to apply for a long term study visa;

if you enrol in a master degree course you can apply for one of the 40 scholarships reserved to master level students for the A. Y 2021/2022.

In order to start the university pre-enrolment procedures, candidates must create their account on the  UNIVERSITALY portal in order to fill in the relative “pre-enrolment application” online.

The validation process via the Universitaly portal is in charge to the International relations office of the University of Tuscia. Once your pre-enrolment application has been approved by the International Students Desk it becomes visible to the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate.

The acceptance letter ("Modello D") will be uploaded by the International Students Desk on the Universitaly portal directly while validating your pre-enrolment application.

We recommend to schedule the appointment at the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate for the VISA application only if your pre-enrolment application has been validated by the International Students Desk.

The decision on issuing a VISA for study purposes is the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate and the acceptance letter ("Modello D") that you will receive in reply to your online application is to be considered a supporting document to the visa assessment procedures, but does not automatically imply the VISA issue. Moreover, if you have not received your visa yet, you can attend classes online, but bear in mind that in order to come to Viterbo you must have received a visa for study. Your enrolment will be definitive only if you obtain the VISA and the consequent residence permit.

Considering the Covid-19 emergency and the visa issuance process, the University of Tuscia offers flexible teaching solutions that will allow you to attend classes online for the A.Y. 2021-2022 until you can get to Viterbo.

Required documents for non-European students residing abroad

Undergraduate degree and Single cycle degree

• Original/certified copy of your high school diploma (or equivalent certificate), obtained after at least 12 years of schooling, provided with a certified translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish) and legalization (if required) and one of the following documents:
  • declaration of equal value ("Dichiarazione di valore") issued by the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate in the country where the diploma was obtained
  • statement of comparability (“Attestato di comparabilità”) issued by ENIC-NARIC centres

If you hold a qualification obtained after 11 or 10 years of global schooling please be aware that it does not allow access to Italian universities, unless you satisfy one of the following additional conditions:

• you attended one year (in case of 11 years) or two (in case of 10 years) years of university studies and took all the exams foreseen by the first year (in case of 11 years) or the first two years (in case of 10 years) of the degree program. In this case, you also have to provide the original/certified copy of your transcript of Records with a certified translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish) and legalization (if required)
• you obtained a post-secondary qualification to compensate for any missing years of secondary education in a subject related to the degree program you wish to enrol for. In this case, you also have to provide the original/certified copy of your transcript of Records with a certified translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish) and legalization (if required)

Postgraduate degrees

• Original/certified copy of your undergraduate degree achieved after at least 3 academic years provided with a certified translation into Italian (the translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish) and legalization (if required) and one of the following documents:
  • declaration of equal value ("Dichiarazione di valore")issued by the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate in the country where the diploma was obtained
  • statement of comparability (“Attestato di comparabilità”) issued by ENIC-NARIC centres
• original/certified copy of the degree program transcript of records issued by the foreign Institution/University, including marks and ECTS assigned to each exam, provided with a certified translation into Italian and legalization (if required). The translation into Italian is not required if the original document is issued in English, French or Spanish
• original/certified copy of the Diploma Supplement (if available), provided with legalization (if required). If you hold a Diploma Supplement, this document may be provided as an alternative to all documents listed above (undergraduate degree provided with declaration of equal value/statement of comparability and transcript of records)

The University of Tuscia reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to request further documents if necessary for evaluating the applicant’s educational background.

Language Requirements:

Italian language skills are mandatory for enrolling at the University of Tuscia for all courses taught in Italian.

Every academic year the University Language Centre schedule a calendar of Italian language assessment tests aimed at:

• verifying the possession of adequate language abilities and knowledge of the main grammatical structures of the Italian language, needed to properly study and explore topics and issues related to the university experience;
• ascertaining the applicant’s ability to effectively and correctly communicate verbally in an academic context.

Italian Language exams calendar for enrollment in the academic year 2021-2022 is scheduled as follows:

July 5th 2021 14-18 p.m. September 9th 2021 14-18 p.m. October 7th 2021 14-18 p.m.

Language exams are not compulsory for those who:

Have an Italian high school diploma (obtained in Italy or abroad);

Have a B2 or higher level language proficiency certificate issued by one of the members of the CLIQ (Quality Certification of the Italian Language) Association [Certification].

Some Departments offer study programs in English. In these cases, an Italian language test is not required. Only for programs held in English, a valid English language certificate is required.
